Chaka Khan

Chaka Khan is an American singer-songwriter. Also, she's known as her infamous nickname, The Queen of Funk. Through her more than fifty-year career the singer has won a total 10 Grammys. Billboard named her the 65th-most successful dancer of all time. She was introduced to jazz while she was a child. At the beginning of her career, she played in various bands. Then, she joined a group named Rufus. Together with the group, she recorded her first record in her 20s. In the year following they won their first Grammy. In the following years, she released her first album as an artist on her own. She then released several other albums over the years, like 'Echoes from an Era", 'The Woman I Am', and 'Funk This'. Apart from her musical acts, her charitable efforts has gained her a lot of recognition. She founded Chaka Khan Foundation to help children in need. Chaka Khan Foundation to help kids from families with low incomes, as well as children with autism. Khan has also worked as an actress at times. She was Sister Carrie in the role of lead in the musical "Mama, I'd Like to Sing'.
